Use case · Supplier diversity

Find diverse local suppliers by city and category.

Search a city for businesses that identify as women-, Black-, Latino-, Asian-, veteran-, LGBTQ+-, Indigenous- or disabled-owned on Google, then save a shortlist for outreach.

Good to know

Self-identified, not certified. Here's how to use that.

Ownership tags in Outpost Leads come from attributes businesses add to their own Google profiles. They're a fast way to find local businesses that may qualify for a diversity program, but they aren't certification.

Use Outpost Leads to build the list, then confirm certification (MBE, WBE, VOSB and others) with the certifying organization before you count a supplier.

  • Find candidates beyond the usual certified directories
  • Filter by the ownership types your program tracks
  • Save lists by city and category for sourcing events

Ownership filters

Filter by the groups your program tracks.

Ownership tags come from the "From the business" attributes that owners add to their own Google Business Profile, such as "Identifies as women-owned." Outpost Leads never guesses or infers ownership.

If a business hasn't added an attribute, it won't show up under that filter. That keeps the results honest, and it means coverage depends on owners choosing to share it.

Questions

Are ownership tags the same as certification?

No. Google ownership attributes are self-reported by the business. They are not the same as MBE, WBE, VOSB or other certifications. If your program requires certification, use Outpost Leads to build the list, then confirm certification with the certifying body.

How do you know who owns a business?

From the business itself. Owners can add attributes such as "Identifies as veteran-owned" to their Google Business Profile, and Outpost Leads filters on those attributes. Nothing is inferred from names, photos or anything else.
